Christmas Trip to Angkor Wat

Tara & I went for a weekend trip from Bangkok to Siem Reap on Christmas. It takes around an hour to get out of the Bangkok Metropolitan Area and than another three hours to the Thai-Cambodian Border Poipet. Thai New Year in Bangkok

Songkran (Thai New Year water festival) is everywhere right now and for about a week it is quite hard to stay dry.
In the last few days I tried out the ‘GoPro’ HD video cam (which is waterproof) for a Songkran story. I took some footage in my neighborhood Huay Kwang and on Khaosan Road. Here are some still pics of my footage…

สวัสดีปีใหม่ – Happy New Year

According to Thailand’s calendar it is New Year again and people preparing for several days of celebration! It is actually the first time I am spending in Bangkok during the Thai New Year. Last year I was quite busy with the protests in Bangkok and the year before I celebrated in Laos (German) which shares the same moon oriented calendar.

Red Commemoration in Lat Yao

The upcoming weekend will be very interesting. UDD leaders announced peaceful gatherings in Bangkok and Chiang Mai which will be observed by tight security. About 200 red shirts gathered this morning in Lat Yao at the Klong Prem Prison. (more…)
